Turn Vulnerability Into Power!

Turn Vulnerability Into Power! Wait what? Now, that’s new!

I’m bringing up Insightful Vulnerability™ again because it matters so much. It’s a term that I coined a while ago. I had been trying to pin down that meaningful moment of speaker-audience connection.

When I first started my leadership coaching practice motivational speaker Les Brown told me something that really stuck with me. He said: “People don’t connect with your successes… They connect with your messes! Your message is in your mess!”

That’s very true! And there’s nuance to it. It takes real courage to be vulnerable. It’s not about confession. It’s about connecting by admitting a shortcoming, and then sharing what you learned from it!

That’s critical. It’s Insightful Vulnerabilityâ„¢. When you make it part of your Origin Story people appreciate it – you’re potentially saving them from making that mistake! And, rather than making you look weak for failing, it shows your ability to be self reflective, to learn and grow.

In this one minute video there’s more about an excellent leadership speaking opportunity.
