Be A Powerful Leader Strive For Alignment and Achieve Authenticity
Today I talk about speaking, but I could also be talking about love!
Sometimes being oneself is challenging. But, it’s one of the most important things we can do when taking the stage to deliver a TED-like talk, stepping into a new leadership role, or making a tough personal decision.
Yet this can be very difficult. Being in front of an audience, taking a leadership position – anything that gets you noticed by the group, can be terrifying – causing misalignment that erodes authenticity. There are many things we “think” we “should” do – goals and standards to live up to, comparisons with others we admire – all of these things tempt us to be something other than our actual selves.
To be your most influential, inspirational self, you must be the real you. There is always new work to be done, new layers of self to explore and new insights that will lead you to be more fully yourself.
Examining oneself, and aligning oneself in service of one’s message is a process. It’s worthwhile, and it leads the way to authenticity; your truest, most powerful, and loveable self.
