“Opening Your Laptop”

Over the years, with various teams, I’ve helped raise 100s of millions of dollars in Silicon Valley and beyond. And now, a large part of my business is providing pitch coaching for entrepreneurs around the world.

I’m working with people on the cutting edge of curing cancer, teams that are lifting millions out of poverty in the developing world, and I even support a company that may well disrupt the entire statin (cholesterol drugs) market.

One thing you’ve heard me talk about here many times and something that is almost always missing in the pitches I hear is an “Origin Story.” I call it the “Opening Your Laptop” story. As in, “While I’m opening the laptop and pulling up our slides, let me tell you where this whole thing came from…”

That story, well chosen, well crafted and well told, is one of the key factors in turning: Yes, we like it, Yes we think the price is right, Yes we think it would make a difference, No, we’re not ready yet… into

Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes!

Here’s a video that refers. As always, if you have questions for me just hit reply and let me know!

PS, If you’re having one, I want to share some important secrets of sales success at your sales conference next year! Let’s talk about it!
