Speak to Them Like They’re Great!

Great leaders have vision. Not just for the direction of the organization, but also for the people they lead. Great leaders can see what is possible for their colleagues and inspire them to step into their higher selves.

The only reason I’m doing what I do now is because I’ve had several leaders like that. (For example: RB Hackenberg and Melinda Richter, and others!) They are people I respect. They saw something in me that I didn’t see. They spoke to me like I was great, even though I wasn’t so sure at the time. They gave me the permission and fortitude to keep going when I wanted to quit. And I am forever grateful to them.

So, practice seeing the greatness in those around you and speak to them like they are great, even if their results at a particular moment could be better. Be authentic – as you can always find something inspiring if you’re willing to look.

It takes practice, and you will get better and better. When you speak to the greatness in others you will create forever fans. People who didn’t fully see their own greatness will never forget that you saw it before they did. This is a trait well worth developing because it makes life more fulfilling, and you a more successful leader.
