What is a Poetic License, you ask?
When you’re telling a story, or making a presentation, what you leave out is just as important as what you leave in! Think about what’s really important to your audience, and leave out the rest.
To achieve this dynamic, you are granted Poetic License, as long as you use it in service of your audience. Many speakers include all kinds of details not materially relevant that detract from the main point of the story. Poetic License streamlines the story, highlights the interesting parts, and makes it more engaging.
You can also use poetic license to combine experiences into a single story, illustrating important points without having to explain the ins and outs of the various pieces. That way your audience gets the greatest benefit without getting lost in too much information.
In this one minute video I offer an example of Poetic License, and illustrate how even the rules of grammar are malleable to serve your audience.
