How would you describe a charismatic leader?

Charismatic Leaders are amazing. They are inspiring, fun to be around, and yet there can be a big downside to being a charismatic leader.

Your charisma might be read as an aura that causes colleagues and friends to avoid telling you anything that will make you unhappy! They love you, they think you’re awesome, and they just want to keep you happy!

As a charismatic leader, or as someone who is part of a charismatic team, you must create a culture that rewards truth-telling! Otherwise you may not hear important concerns until it’s too late!

As someone who reports to a charismatic leader it’s essential that you first, do not fall into this trap, and then second, have a conversation with your charismatic boss at the right time. After thinking through the issue, choose the right moment and the right words to tell them the hard truths! Let them know they can count on you for both the good and the bad and you will be instantly more valuable to them.

Successful leaders keep reminding people that what makes them happiest is hearing the truth; hearing what’s really going on. That is the only way to make good choices so the organization will thrive
